The aim for this website is to disseminate information about my PhD research into the management of database systems. This research investigates the current practices and procedures that are used and examines the complexities of managing database systems. My PhD title:

Research questions

  • 1 To what extent are best practices and procedures utilised by the database community?
  • 2 What are the complex interactions that are an integral part of the management of database systems?
  • 3 Is the adoption of best practices and procedures affected by the complex interactions that are an integral part of the management of database systems?
  • 4 How can a better understanding of the complex interactions contribute to improvement and innovation?

The data explosion, increasing complexity along with technological changes inspired this research

With the explosion of structured and unstructured data, managing these ubiquitous data driven environments has become complex. The emergence of a significant set of new database engines, requirements to meet scalability, performance, security, availability, agility, collecting data from a variety of sources and types and, the increasing need for high quality data requires us to examine the future evolution of how to manage these databases systems. The database systems landscape has and is continuing to change rapidly.
